VK started learning carnatic classical vocal from his aunt SmtBharathi for about 4 yrs during middle/high school back in Chennai. He continue to learn under the guidance of gOttuvAdhya vidhwan Late Sri Kittappa for another year, before college came as an lame excuse to stop learning further music. Parallely he developed self-interest in keyboards and started to fiddle around with it. He and his elder brother Rajan started a light music group called AALAAPANAA and did a few shows, before he came to the US (bay area) in 1995. New association in a completely new country was instrumental in forming another light music group in the bay area called PALLAVI. He has performed in more than 28 or 29 pallavi shows to raise fundas for several non-profit charity organizations. He is also a freelance keyboard player and helps with other music groups when there is opportunity. He sometimes loves to sing and whistle as well.

He has resumed his carnatic vocal training since last year with Sri. Ashok Subramaniam in the bay area. In his spare time, he loves to decipher notes/chords for famous film songs (tamil, hindi, etc.,) and upload in his website KeyLessOnline.com
