Abhimanyu Lal, son and disciple of the renowned guru Smt. Geetanjali Lal is recognized as one of the most accomplished Kathak dancers. The splendor and of his brilliant solo performance has earned him applause both in India and other countries. Hailed as a bright star in the firmament of Kathak,Abhimanyu has received acclaim as a dazzling dancer by the media and critics of arts. He has been awarded Shri Krishna Gana Sabha Endowment Award and Nritya Jayantika Award. He has performed at the highest level in India and abroad in many prestigious dance festivals such as Sydney Dance Festival at Seymour Center-Australia 2014, 64th Indian Republic day celebration in Dubai 2013,London Olympics 2012, Vienna, Graz, Singapore, Birmingham International Dance Festival, Incredible India @60 New York, India Festival in Russia,Croatia, Oslo, Netherlands, Canada, Egypt, Switzerland, Fiji Islands,Mauritius, Reunion Island,Seychelles, South Africa, etc. He has the honor of performing for the prestigious festivals organized by Sangeet Natak Academy, National Institute of Kathak, New Delhi and Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). Recently he went on a concert tour to Bulgaria, Russia, Belgium, Managua, and Cuba for the Europalia India Festival organized by the ICCR. Abhimanyu Lal is a trained Western Drummer and has performed extensively with the contemporary Kathak style in India and abroad.ICCR has deputed Abhimanyu Lal as Kathak Dance Teacher cum Performer at the Indian Cultural Centre, Fiji Islands 2005-2007 and Dhaka in 2008. He has been awarded the “Pandit Durgalal Endowment Award” and “Sumithra Rajan Endowment Award” by the Shri Krishna Gana Sabha, Chennai. Presently Abhimanyu Lal is teaching Kathak as Prashinkshak in Kathak at Kendra New Delhi, India.
